Growing up in America during the 21st century, life is pretty simple. Everything is at your fingertips. All of the information you could ever want is just a simple click away. I think we can all agree that the most useful tool that we depend on is google.
Growing up, I often found myself googling for relationship advice, career advice and other trending news. Most recently, I found myself on the negative end of my google search. After constant communication with the Greenbay Packers, I felt like was on the verge of becoming the next great NFL superstar. The Packer's lockerroom was hit by covid with several players testing postive, reducing the active roster significantly. After hours and hours of googling the situation that plagued the Packers, I came to the conclusion that recieving one covid vaccine would increase my chances of signing with the team.
Despite what I felt God had told me about the vaccine and the potentional harm it could cause, I chose to take it anyway. After sending in my vaccination card, I recieved a quick response from the team, "Great, Michael, we will take this into consideration." Obviously, not the response I was hoping for but after hours and hours of combing through google, I thought my chances had increased based on the information I had gathered.
Not long after I received the vaccination, I started to experience random shortness of breath and would periodically get so sick that I couldn't leave the bed. I'm not here to blame the vaccine or any doctors but it seemed as though me relying on the wisdom of google and not God made my health deteriorate rapidly.
After taking time to think deeper about the influence that google was having on my life, my next question arose: Who invented it? Surprisingly, I found out that the co-founders of google were athiests with no religious preference. Astonished by my ignorance, I thought to myself, "How could I allow my life to be influenced by someone who doesn't share the same beliefs and values that I have?"
"1 The [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable deeds; there is none that does good or right. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any who understood, dealt wisely, and sought after God, inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity]." - Psalm 14:1-2 AMPC
After millions and millions of trending news articles, one thought comes to mind: Has God being upset with the current state of society ever trended? Since we don't see God's feelings on society trending, we tend to not take them into consideration.
"Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]." - Romans 12:2 AMPC
A few weeks ago, during the opening ceremony of the worldwide Olympic Games, they chose to mock Jesus Christ by reenacting the last supper with drag queens (men dressed like women). This move trended on the news for weeks, however, despite a few objections, the Olympics carried on business as usual.
"7 Be not deceived; ( don't go astray or believe something that is not true ) God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." - Galations 6:7-8 KJV
One thing that didn't trend was how God felt about the incident. How does God, the Creator, feel about His own creation mocking Him? As a kid, I knew for a fact that if I embrassed my parents in public, I wouldn't be able to sit for weeks when I got home. So a question comes to mind: has God forgotten about a world that has forgotten Him?
"25 And you treated as nothing all my counsel and would accept none of my reproof, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when the thing comes that shall cause you terror and panic—27 When your panic comes as a storm and desolation and your calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. 28 Then will they call upon me [Wisdom] but I will not answer; they will seek me early and diligently but they will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord," - Proverbs 1:25-29 AMPC
Question of the day: Are you waiting for God's feelings to trend on google before you take them into consideration?
